Ginger by name and ginger by nature. This very special boy needs a very special and loving home to call his own – and that special person or those special people who take him in will be richly rewarded by cuddles unparalleled.
Ginger grew up in a household with six other cats and as such is not used to being the centre of attention – but that is absolutely where he deserves to be. Humans still sometimes are a bit big and scary and fast for him, so while he would ideally suit a home with other feline creatures (such as his current friend Rachel, he will definitely grow into being the sole love-giver/receiver if required. Ginger is definitely not suited to dogs (he came into foster care reluctantly after new dogs caused him a lot of stress and anxiety).
Ginger initially will need a personal cubby house/hidey-hole to make him more at ease in his new home (his present little igloo will come with him), but as he begins to venture out he will need time to grow in trust and remember how good human contact is. He’s come a very long way with his current foster dad, but new things are still a bit frightening for him.
This boy loves water and needs to have a ready supply on hand – he sometimes alternates between lapping water up and dipping his paw in it to lick. His favourite things are head, cheek and neck scratches and bum scratches and smacks which, when he opens up, are things he seeks out and leaps up for. He also loves toys, and stick-toys are his absolute favourites – when he catches his “prey” he’ll play growl to show what a big man he is.
Part of Ginger’s uniqueness and beauty is that when he was a kitten he fell on his back so he sometimes has a slightly unique gait or stance and may appear clumsy at times, but it doesn’t impede him at all in jumping up or receiving love, and only makes this uniquely beautiful boy, more beautiful.
As he learns to know his new home you may hear him in the night calling out, and his foster dad is sure he’s learned how to say “Hello!” while he does this. All he desires is love and cuddles, and once he has that, he is a purr monster extraordinaire.
