Oreo
Oreo was allowed to run rampant as a puppy, but he has been learning manners and is very quick to learn.
He does not show aggression over food and has learned to sit before being fed. He loves his doggy bones and pig ears.
When Oreo gets excited, he doesn’t realise how big he is and can jump up.
He is learning not to jump and that it’s not ok to mouth, but is still a work in progress. He would benefit from some professional training.
Oreo is not suited to small children, cats, or small pets as they are too much fun when they run away from him.
He is not interested in chickens but loves to watch the fish in the pond swimming around.
Oreo loves to play with his foster friend and would prefer the company of another large dog which would also help him learn proper doggy manners.
Oreo is housebroken when inside for short periods of time, although food left on counters is another matter.
Due to having hip issues (see below), Oreo only goes out for short jaunts.
He loves to go on walks and is learning slowly not to pull (we use a special no pull harness).
He is polite to other dogs he meets on his walks and enjoys sniffing around.
What you get with Oreo is a very loving puppy that craves attention.
He needs a family who are prepared to spend the time and effort to teach him what is expected.
You will be rewarded with a very loving companion who just wants to be always near you.
***Oreo is on pain medication daily for his bilateral hip dysplasia and that seems to work with no ill effects.
He may later need surgery to correct his hip problem. However, with proper exercise and weight management, this may not be needed.
Whoever adopts this lovely boy will need to understand this risk and be willing to accept his future care and wellbeing.
To that end, we are offering a NO ADOPTION FEE to the right person who has an understanding of this condition***
Oreo is desexed microchipped vaccinated, wormed and flea treated. He is located with this foster carer in Lewiston.
